Salted egg is not just good to go with Teochew porridge but the magical fragrance simply found its way into many of the dishes, which include the Thai style salted egg calamari which was remarkably additive and savoury, though the basil leave could be rather dominant.

Phad Mee Phuket or Stir-fried Thai Style Bee Hoon served with Tiger Prawns ($16.90)

The heavily seasoned bee hoon was stir-fried with juicy and sweet Tiger prawns. It was profusion of exotic flavours and fragrance made it highly addictive.

The quintessential aroma was instantly felt with the first bite, the crispy and garlicky coating was tantalizing, a touch of the seasoning sent the alluring favorite with an obtrusive flavour.

Som Tum or Papaya Salad ($9.90)

The salad was fresh and adhering to the Thai way of preparing the salad, fish sauce was prerequisite seasoning to add the extra zest but the saltiness could be a little overwhelming with the overladen sodium contain.

Our verdict, the all the dishes at Basil Thai were given the extra make over emphasizing on the seasoning with clear intention to attract the younger generations to have a taste of Thai. The launch of Songkran menu took in their expectations and a satisfying meal is not too surprised to many.
