Review Summary:

All in all, the meals are relatively decent in taste with its high quality ingredients used to prepare the dishes. The serving size may be posed some challenges to satisfy the big appetite eaters, however, $25++ for a Japanese Italian Cuisine is in fact worth the value if judging from the price you paid.

Caffe B

caffe B 1

[gard group=’1′]

A restaurant bar that serves Japanese Italian cuisine, Caffe B has got two sections to it – the bottom level being one with posh settings, allowing for you to dine under chandeliers; while the upper level is a casual al fresco bar that serves Japanese-inspired cocktails.

caffe B 2

Since January 25, Caffe B has launched its latest three courses set lunch menu that is priced at $25++. While most set lunches are available only during the weekdays, set lunches at Caffe B is available every day of the week from Monday to Sunday! This means that Caffe B might be some place you want to bring your family to this coming weekend!

Before the start of the set meal, there is complimentary bread served with Tapenade spread (made with olive oil, olives, capers and anchovies) Both the bread and spread are made fresh in house.

For the Set Menu, you get to choose between having a Potato and Prosciutto Salad or the Chef’s Fresh Pot of the Day as your starter.

Potato and Prosciutto Salad

caffe B 6

The starter was a little cute portion of potato wrapped in a piece of prosciutto ham. There was also a serving of salad drizzled with Miso Vinaigrette served to complement the potato ham and to give a light start for the meal.

Chef’s Fresh Pot of the Day

We had the chance to try the chef’s pumpkin soup which although appeared thick, was very light on the fragrance of the pumpkin.

Tuna Sake Tataki

caffe B 8

As the name suggests, the tuna is seared with sake, and then served with some home-made hash browns on the side. You could taste the freshness on the tuna, although once again the portion was on the mini side but the taste indeed won us over.

Beef Verde

caffe B 9

Black Angus Beef served on Edamame and drizzled with Sauce Verde, this was slightly heavier than the tuna main. Well marinated potatoes complement well to the medium rare beef which was tender and juicy.

Chicken Lasagne Parmegiano

caffe B 10

Unlike most lasagnes available outside, this one was made with spinach pasta with layers of chicken, shitake mushroom and eggplants. Covered in Bechamel Sauce and Pomodoro and Mozzarella, this main had a homely feel to it and we did enjoy the taste and the flavour.

Vegetarian Pasta Alla Fungi

caffe B 11

Our favourite out of all the 4 mains happens to be vegetarian! The pasta is cooked Al Dente with white mushroom cream sauce; with the juicy mushrooms to go with it, it will be nice if the portion can be served in a larger portion to meet the appetite of our bottomless stomach…  Glutton family always..:)

Trio Profiteroles

caffe B 12

For dessert, you get to enjoy three freshly baked profiteroles filled with three different fillings, from Red Bean to Chocolate Cream and also Matcha. I personally loved the Matcha filling profiterole as it was so rich and creamy with Matcha goodness.

All in all, the meals are relatively decent in taste with its high quality ingredients used to prepare the dishes. The serving size may be posed some challenges to satisfy the big appetite eaters, however, $25++ for a Japanese Italian Cuisine is in fact worth the value if judging from the price you paid.
