We had our duck rice for lunch at Golden mile Food Centre and decided to continue our mission to shoot for our next target – Cheok Kee Boneless Braised Duck at Geylang Bahru Market & Food Centre.

It was a Sunday and 3.30pm, it was supposedly a non-peak hour and we were not expecting the need to queue for the food in this food centre. Ha ha…we were wrong! The stall we wanted to patronise – Cheok Kee Boneless Braised Duck was the exception, there was five to six customers waited patiently to be served, are they attracted by the accolades at the stall? The more than 25 roasted birds displayed at the stall signified the confidence of its business. Wow….no joke, can all the ducks be sold in a day?

A plate of standard duck rice costs $3.50, the serving was one of the most generous duck rice that we even come across.  The rice was not yam rice but cooked with the braised broth so to give the rice some extra flavour, unfortunately, some portion of the rice was hard and may be not well cooked.

The gooey gravy was a tab of sweet but balanced with a tab of saltiness, not too bad overall in taste.

Duck meat was incredible tender, this is one of the very few duck meat stall able to master the braising skills of the duck to achieve the perfect tenderness and the smooth texture. The meat was saturated with the herb from the gravy and completely de-boned! We love it!

Chili was ordinary, just like the soup and nothing too exciting to talk about it.

“Half duck for dinner?” I asked Hui Ping, “Why not? One whole is fine too.” She replied.
