Review Summary:

For the Bak Kut The, the peppery level was not overly powered with more sweetness to the taste buds, however, the bak kut required some chewy before you can bit it off from the bone, we found the ribs was a better choice which was easier to eat and more tender than the bak kut. The pig knuckle was full of thick fat and thick bone! Lean meat probably made up less than one fourth of the whole knuckle. The simmering time was obviously not long enough and the meat was lacked of the much required tenderness and juiciness, likewise the seasoning was too mild. Unless you like the thick skin and the sinfully big chuck of oily fat, you probably would not find the knuckle too inspiring.

For whatever reasons, Balestier road houses the most numbers of Bak Kut Teh Restaurants in Singapore, to try all of them is a little too demanding for ourselves and we will probably suffer for Bak Kut Teh allergy and phobia in the end. So, we decided to go for the most famous one based on the crowd and recommendations – The famous Founder Bak Kut Teh Restaurant.

Founder serves the white peppery version of bak kut teh as well as other varieties of side dishes include the standard peanuts, pig organs and pork trotters.

The rest of the dishes we ordered were quite ordinary in taste, the bean skin, tau pok, braised eggs and braised peanut were not too impressive and basically there to provide the patrons the extra choices.

Oveall, the quality of the Bak Kut Teh here was with acceptable quality, however, we still prefer the Joo Siah bak kut teh裕城肉骨茶 and Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh亚华肉骨茶.
