Review Summary:

Grandma’s it’s so local: Overall, most of the dishes were really small in the serving portion for the indicated price, not too worth for the value. Add on to the disappointment, Grandma could be local in taste but the nostalgia flavour seems to be missing in the dishes we had tasted. It is apparent that the sentimental touch from the old granny in the cooking could no longer be found under the commercially trained chefs. Unfortunately, we know it is a reality we got to accept.

Grandma’s it’s so local

 Grandma 14

“Everyone would agree that childhood memories are incomplete without the unforgettable feasts whipped up by Grandma…..”  The legacy of the Grandma restaurant clearly avow on their marketing message, something we share the sentiment, that’s nothing can be tastier than our Grandma’s delicacies, an unshakable fact we all endorsed.

Seafood Hor Fun

Grandma 2

The Hor Fun was tasted slightly charred (Wok Hei), an important factor for a good Hor Fun, the gravy was cooked with generous portion of eggs which help to rise the tastefulness of the dish. Seafood was fresh and not overcooked. Overall, a tasty and flavourful Hor Fun.

Fried Kway Teow

Grandma 4

Kway Teow, bean sprout and seafood, the standard items were used, of course, nothing can really come close if compared to those top notch Fried Kway Teow in Singapore. The lack of charred flavour was a disappointment and the combination in the dish unable to raise the overall tastefulness of the delicacy.

Dou miao豆苗

Grandma 6

Pea sprouts also known as dou miao, the young seedlings of the pea plant. Stir fried is the best for this veggie as you will be able to enjoy the crunchiness and the full nutrition of the veggie. The Stir fried Dou Miao was average standard, perhaps some minced garlic could help to lift up the overall flavour.

 Grandma 7

Sambal Kang Kong

Grandma 9

The sambal was not blended well with the Kang Kong, in our opinion, the sambal chilli may requires some enhancement both in spiciness and the sambal flavour. A dish can’t create too much the excitement in us.

 Grandma 9

Egg Omelette

Grandma 10

One of the most disappointed dishes of the day, from the taste, texture, ingredients used to the cooking style; nothing could really impress any of us. In fact, this is a simple dish that we expect any chef should be able to whip up a fairly tasteful and make a good deliverable.

 Grandma 11

Three Cups Chicken (三杯鸡)

Grandma 12

Good Three cups chicken requires the combination of the three flavours, namely sesame oil, vinegar and wine. Unfortunately,   we can’t fully appreciate the present of the three flavours and that made the Three Cup Chicken lost in shine completely. The only consolation went for the tenderness of the chicken, besides that, nothing much to compliment the dish.
