Han Jia Bak Kut Teh serves the clear peppery version of Bak Kut Teh, the first sip of the soup has no obvious response from all of us, something not too positive as a start, the pepper was mild and the herb was not too prominent, something to our dismay, the soup tasted a bit sweet at the beginning followed by a strange sour flavor lingered in our mouth, we were wondering if the soup were overcooked led to the sour taste. Honestly, we don't really appreciate the taste.

What could be better than starting the Sunday morning with a bowl of Bak Kut Teh and steaming hot rice, accompanied by the magnificent East Coast sea view and the breezing sea breath?

Located in the East Coast Lagoon Food Village, a great eatery place housed many of the famous stalls in Singapore, from duck rice, carrot cake, Laksa to the demise of the famous satay mee hoon. Han Jia Bak Kut Teh serves the clear peppery version of Bak Kut Teh, the first sip of the soup has no obvious response from all of us, something not too positive as a start, the pepper was mild and the herb was not too prominent, something to our dismay, the soup tasted a bit sweet at the beginning followed by a strange sour flavor lingered in our mouth, we were wondering if the soup were overcooked led to the sour taste. The pork leg is popular from the customers ordering pattern. Eat-in and take away were equally high demand. The pork knuckle must have gone through hours of stewing and boiling before it served, the meat practically tear off effortlessly from the bone and tenderly soft. However, the seasoning of the gravy was not distinct and lacking the needed punch to create the “Wow” reaction.

Overall, Han Jia Bak Kut Teh may like to consider improving the broth of their Bak Kut Teh to give a little more taste with some tuning of the ingredients used. The tenderness of the pork leg was marvellous but the seasoning still far off to be considered flavourful and scrumptious if compared to Joo Siah Bak Kut Teh.
