Review Summary:

Surprise! The braised duck was tendered and tasty, similar to the char siew and shao rou, may be not the top-notched standard but we can confidently say that Kung Ji is definitely above the standard. The shao rou had a thin layer of savory crisp skin with juicy and tender meat, even my body statistic conscious daughter apparently forgotten about the avoidance of fatty diet and indulging in the sinfully luscious meats.

The stall has no display of any award, newspaper cutting or any celebrities photos to attract the crowd, however, there was still a queue waiting patiently for the food. Our curiosity prompted my two kids to scout around the tables in the food centre to sense how well the customer response to the duck rice, my two kids came back with positive observation. This is one of the ways how we verify the popularity of a specific food stall. The response boosted our confidence to join the queue wondering how good the food going to be.

Besides braised duck, Kun Ji sells roast duck, roast lean pork (Char Siew) and roast belly pork (shao rou), we ordered the braised duck with the extra topping of Char Siew and shao rou,  we were a little disappointment when we saw white rice was served with the dishes instead of our much inclined yam rice. Traditionally, duck rice has to be severed with yam rice and not white rice, which is really called duck rice in our belief. The yam rice if cooked well can make the duck rice truly shine and we were concerned how good can Kun Ji demonstrate their culinary skills to be  able in mastering the braised duck, char siew and shao rou. A stall can be good in one skill but to do well for all can be a daunting task.
