Review Summary:

Wan Xing Nasi Lemak: The chicken wing was deep fried to achieve a nice crispy outer layer but still able to retain the juiciness and tenderness of the meat. Of course, good Nasi Lemak cannot be completed without a good chili, the sambal chili from Wan Xing was quite intense and impressive in how it was done up, the chili blended very well with the Nasi Lemak and made the overall dish commendable.

How often you can find a proper meal for a mere $2.20 nowadays in the local food centre? Time is hard and I’m sure it is definitely welcomed by all to have such discovery; more commendable if the food is tasty and good.

Wan Xing Nasi Lemak believes that by providing good food and keeping the price low, that will benefit many blue workers working around the area; a statement printed on the signboard and a great news for not just the workers but many of the residents staying around.

Wan Xing Nasi Lemak offers a standard set menu, but we decided to go for the ala carte menu with their even more popular chicken wing, on top of the egg plants, fried potatos and fried long beans. First of all, Nasi Lemak is all about rice and Wan Xing serves light green coloured rice likely from the juices of the pandan leaves and coconut. However, the fragrance was not so much noticeable in the taste when eaten. Fortunately, the rice was grainy, moist and with good texture which gives the dish a right start.

The fried potatos, long bean and the egg plants were tastefully cooked,   not too raw or overcooked, a good demonstration of culinary skills. The star of the stall was the chicken wing, the wing was well marinated. The pinky meat was not an indication of it being under cooked but the result of permeation by the seasoning, something unique from Wan Xing. The chicken wing was deep fried to achieve a nice crispy outer layer but still able to retain the juiciness and tenderness of the meat. Of course, good Nasi Lemak cannot be completed without a good chili, the sambal chili from Wan Xing was quite intense and impressive in how it was done up, the chili blended very well with the Nasi Lemak and made the overall dish commendable.

Overall,  Wan Xing Nasi Lemak is surprisingly palatable for a price of $2.20.  Time is hard and Wan Xing not only helps you save the money but provides a satisfactory meal to the stomach. Something you can’t really ask for more.
