Review Summary:

Whitley Road Fishball Noodle: The mee pok was a disappointment; the noodle was overcooked and soggy, though the mee pok was flavoured with the pork lard, chili and other seasoning sauces, the overall flavour of the sauce soaked up by the noodle was barely discernible with the uncharacteristic base sauce. The sauce simply too sweet and not at all spicy, all of us in the glutton family feels a complete let down of the mee pok.

Whitley Road is located near to Thomson road and used to have a famous eatery place under the Whitley road flyover. However, eating under the flyover with the entire make shift stalls could not be possible in the modern society, many of the famous stalls eventually relocated to various food centres in Singapore and the legacy continues.

Whitley Road Fishball Noodles obviously is one of the stalls originated from the Whitley flyover. We ordered the dry version of the mee pok fishball with the additional side order of a fish cake. The mee pok came with crisp pork lard and the chili sauce with drizzled of spring onion, a bowl of fish balls with fish cake soup with spring onion to go with the noodle.

Fortunately, the fish cake was tasty with the bounciness texture, not too much of starch and you can still taste of the sweet fish paste in the cake.  The fishballs were acceptable which were firm and bouncy, however, the bowl of the soup was bland and overall pulled down the tastefulness of the soup.

Overall, Whitley road fishball noodles have very much lost its glory over time with the deteriorating standard and quality; this is kind of a sad indeed.
