Ipoh Anson Town Chee Cheong Fun 怡保安顺猪肠粉 – One of the best Chee Cheong Fun in Town

Ipoh Anson Town Chee Cheong Fun’s History

Teluk Intan a.k.a Anson Town is a town located in the state of Perak in Malaysia and about 60km from the Ipoh town, besides the popular Ipon Hor Fun, one of the famous delicacies in Anson Town is the Anson Chee Cheong Fun, the Chee Cheong Fun is a distinctive difference from the Homg Kong style Chee Cheong Fun in the way of the texture, stuffing and presentation.

Anson Town occupies a shophouse along the Changi Road, the shop offers a wide range Malaysian hawker food eg. The Ipoh Hor Fun/noodles cooked in different styple, various Chee Cheong Fun, porridge, soy milk products , Nasir Lemak etc.

Anson Special 3.5

The first thing you must order when visiting Anson Town got to be the Chee Cheong Fun, many different combinations are available but amongst all, the signature “Anson Special” Chee Cheong Fun is the one to die for. “Anson Special”, the steamed rice rolls are smooth as silk and fine like the snow, stuffed with turnip fillings and dried shrimps, served with green chili pickles, at the first bite, you will be impressed and we now understand why hordes of chee cheong fun lovers flock here to safisfy their cravings. One of the best Chee Cheong Fun in Singapore? You bet.

Curry with soft Beancurd Skin 4

The curry can’t blended well with the plain Chee Cheong Fun, we don’t recommend.

Plain with Chili and Sweet Sauce 2.5

The generous chili and sweet sauce submerged the Chee Cheong Fun completely, honestly, best way to appreciate the goodness of this Chee Cheong Fun is to eat it without too much of the interference from the sauces. Simplicity speaks for the volume.

Mushroom Minced Meat 3.5

The mushroom minced meat just didn’t blend well with the Chee Cheong Fun, we adamantly stick to our recommendation of their signature dish.

Ipoh Dry Curry Mee / Hor Fun 5

Curry alone somehow not able to impress us too much with the Chee Cheong Fun, however, the Ipoh dry curry mee was a complete different story, try the mixture of yellow noodle and mee hoon, the combination went exceptional well with the curry and dark marinating sauce, we went for the repeat order to fulfill the craving. Strong recommendation dish when visit this shop.

Yam Cake 2.5

The steamed yam cake was served with chili and sweet sauce, topped with fried shallots and spring onions, the cake was soft and fragrance, a snack you should not missed, highly recommended.

Pumpkin Cake 2.5

The dried shrimps added the extra zest to the cake, the chili sauce and sweet sauce complement well to the soft and fragrant cake. Another good recommendation here.

Chicken Wing 1.6 per wing

Crispy coating but seasoning was insufficient to boost the flavour, there are plenty of rooms to improve.

Nasi Lemak 5

We went for the chicken chop Nasi Lemak which served with Ikan bili, peanut, cabbage, egg and chili. The chili is the traditional Nasi Lemak sweet and savory chili, best for this dish.

Glutinous Rice 5

Only available during weekends, the glutinous rice was dyed with the blue pea flower and topped with sambal prawns and char siew. The sambal was rich and robust in flavour, however, prawns were a little overcooked.

Tau Sau Peah 0.9 each

At the end of the meal, do not neglect the Anson Tau Sau Pian, the size is a little small for 90 cents but in return you can enjoy a real good Tau Sau Pian with its excellent fillings and crisp skin. We recommend you eat it on the spot as the shop will warm up the pian before it was served, it helps to create a nice crisp on the crust and bring out the flavour of the fillings to its peak. Highly recommended.

Heong Peah 0.9 each

Equally good, thin crust and not too sweet fillings.

Kaya puff 1.2 each

You just have to try the baked pastry here, it is good.

Our verdict on Anson Town Traditional Chee Cheong Fun

We are heartily agree that Anson Town Traditional Chee Cheong Fun is well deserved to be one of the best Chee Cheong Fun in Singapore. Especially the Anson Special Chee Cheong Fun.

“Can we come back here next week again?” Asked by our son’s Yusen.

“I fully support.” Our daughter JiaQi replied spontaneously.

Isn’t that the best endorsement for Anson Town?
