Delicious Boneless Chicken Rice美味起骨雞飯
Eating chicken rice in a normal food court usually don’t cost you more than $4 or $5 dollar for a person, so if you have to pay for a whopping $10 per person for the chicken rice in those normal Food court in Singapore, something could be quite extraordinary.
We ordered the following:
Main course: roasted and white steamed chicken
Side orders: included the roasted pork, char siew, salted fish bean sprouts, braised beancurd and eggs.
Complement from the stall: two big bowls of Pork rib lotus soup, cabbage soup and free flow of pickles that come in a mixture of vinegar with fresh pineapple, cucumber, onion and carrot.
Now you can see why it costs so much for the meal. We were obviously over ordered! The amount of food could actually serve double of our capacity! Though we are glutton family but definitely not the dinosaurs! (May be my chubby boy qualified to be one in equivalence.)
The plate of roasted and steamed white chicken was topped with spring onion and fried garlic bits to give the extra aroma. Both version of the chicken was not as tender as what we expect, however, the seasoning sauce was incredibly tasty and go really well with the chicken meat. The chicken rice was not as flavourful as other good chicken rice like Tian Tian, Pow Sing, Boon Tong Kee or Dong Fong Fatt, we cannot appreciate the rice from the missing of much need essence and fragrance of the chicken stock. Nevertheless, we still like the chilli sauce for it spiciness and seasoning.
The side orders of roasted pork and char siew was completely a disappointment. It tasted bland and lacked of the flavour and taste of a good roasted pork and char siew. You can forget about ordering these two dishes.
The braised beancurd and eggs was acceptable but it was the salted fish bean sprouts that we like a lot, the dish was well seasoned and able to retain the crunchiness of the bean sprouts and stands out amongst all the dishes. The two big bowls of complementary soup surprisingly quite tasty as well.
Overall, the chicken could be better in the tenderness and the quality of the chicken rice being improved in the fragrance and taste as well as the texture. And do take note that it will not be boneless chicken as the stall name called if you don’t ask for the bone to be removed.
The glutton family may have enjoyed the meal but the limited gastronomical system could not possible to take in the amount of excess food that we ordered, in order not to waste the food as part of the glutton family living principle, we got the balanced food packed and take away, not too bad we had one more dish for our dinner.
