Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant 香港街餐馆

Hong Kong Street Family Resturant 8

Not to be confused with the other Hong Kong Street Restaurant, which also specialises in Hong Kong style Cantonese zichar but operates independently.

We visited Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant at their Bedok Village Mall branch, where you can dine in the air-conditioned seating or al fresco. The restaurant was packed with diners during the lunchtime, seemingly a popular place for the families. Accolades on display portrayed the restaurant’s standard and may partially explain the crowd.Hong Kong Street Family Resturant 6

Food menu offers wide range of typical zichar items and the first impression was the size – all items ordered were generous with the serving.

French bean with dried-shrimps

There was more than the dried shrimp in there, we tasted salted egg and the presence of spiciness from the chili as well, a well-seasoned french bean dish that we all loved.

Meat Omelette

The egg was fluffy and we can smell the aroma of the eggs. Unfortunately, the seasoning was not evenly mixed, an insipid egg dish.

San Lao Hor Fun

The Hor Fun has the charred flavour and cooked with plenty of sliced Snakehead fish. Taste was average and nothing to shout about.

Salted Fish Fried Rice

Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant apparently does not put too much emphasis on their rice and noodle dishes. The salted fish fried rice was another ordinary dish that will not leave you with any impression.

Prawn rolls

The deep-fried prawn roll is our favorite among the dishes on the table. Not packed with flour but a wrap filled with subtle nuttiness of lovely meaty and chestnut mixture.

It is literally a strong cross between the heavily seasoned sauce and the bland Binjal in a claypot, the combination produced a bowl of satisfying comfort food.

Our verdict

Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant is ideal for families with its wide range of choices, large serving portion, reasonably good quality food and prices.
