Along with the disappointment experienced with the Eunos Kim’s Famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, the once much raved about King of Hokkien mee, we place our last hope with the other branch at Bedok Corner Food Centre, this is the place where we can taste the original Kim’s Famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee since Ah Kim personally frying the Hokkien mee.
Honestly, we are not convinced the standard can be so bad at the Eunos outlet, we can only blamed the improper training and lack of supervision given by Ah Kim to his people, perhaps, the Hokkien mee cooked by himself could swing our perception.
Ah Kim was busy cooking the noodles when we were there in one of the evenings, please, give us something more assuring to glorify the famous Kim’s fried Hokkien mee, we need to regain the confidence badly.
The plate of Hokkien mee made up mostly the yellow noodles compared to the miserable few strains white bee hoon, as usual, the noodles came with the prawns and squid. The first mouthful was full of our anticipation… but…. our hearts are sunken, what happened to the once famous Kim Hokkien mee?? If we have to describe the standard of the Hokkien mee here, it is seriously no difference than any of the fry yellow mee that you can package from any of the hawker stalls in the morning.
Our verdict, there is no point to further illustrate the standard of Kim’s Famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee, we now fully understand why the Eunos’ outlet is under all the criticism and berated for its poor standard, it is kind of disheartening to see the once popular Hokkien mee loosing all its glory.
As of now, we see the fainting legendary of the once famous Kim’s Famous Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee…. just like the fainting yellowish media coverage displayed in front of the stall.
