Lighthouse Bistro and Bar – Nice café, food and service
Lighthouse Bistro & Bar has been the social arm of Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union and the maritime community at large. Over the years, the cafe went through few revamps both the physical and menu. The maritime-themed restaurant specialises in Western-style seafood cuisine but do incorporate some local flair into the dishes.
Ambience is very comfortable with neat and clean table layout both indoor and outdoor, part of the section has retrofitted with sofa and is great for everyone to relax and enjoy a slow afternoon. Lighthouse Bistro & Bar provides not just a nice cafe environment but with the feeling of a cosy lounge.
Seafood may be the mainstream here but you can find fairly good quality poultry, beef and meatless dishes here as well.
Forest mushrooms Medley $8.0
Beef broth, herb oil and garden toast served in a big bowl, the finely blended mushroom was packed with flavour from the beef broth and herb oil. A comforting soup that definitely worth to order.
Norwegian Salmon’s Milk Bath $10.0
Light milk bath, nai bai, ginger and enoki, it resembled the Thai green curry taste but less cloying feel. We loved the slight spiciness and the light milk bath that helped to enliven the overall taste, Salmon and the veggies complemented well with the soup and a dish well deserved our endorsement.
Nippon seasoned scallops $17.0
Bonito, tomatoes oil, tom yam mayo and peas. The pan-fried scallops were nicely done, unfortunately, peas is not our favorite and the pairing somehow cast the shadow over the dish.
Fisherman’s Board $19.0
The seafood platter consists of Tiger prawns, Batavia squid, Altantic dory and blue mussels. Lighthouse Bistro and Bar culinary skills in seafood is well reflected in this seafood dish. Springy prawns, well seasoned squid curls, beautiful crisp coating dory fish stick with its tender and juicy meat, fresh blue mussels nicely showcased in this well received and value for money seafood platter.
Darling Downs Wagyu $42.0
180g organic ribeye, marbling grade four 350 days grain fed, sweet potatoes and mushroom.
The Wagyu beef was nicely charred and perfectly seared, you can fully enjoy the juiciness that retained within. Sweet potatoes risotto as the side was a great complement to the main and simply satisfying.
Fisherman’s Angel Hair $19.0
Tiger prawns, blue mussels, Batavia Squid, sambal
The Western version of Malay Mee Goreng, the typical thick yellow noodle was replaced by the thin spaghetti and taste was just kinda similar to the mee goreng but at the premium twist.
Honey Charred Chicken $17.0
200g thigh, 24 hours marinated bath, waffle chip, greens
The caramelize chicken skin was incredibly flavourful with its 24 hours marinated bath, tender and juicy meat made this Honey charred chicken a music to the ears.
Bananas cake topped with Coconut ice cream and berries. Bananas cake was mild sweet and blend well with the ice cream. Nice dessert to complete the meal.
Nutella Plait $10
Warm gooey hazenut chocolate baked inside of a tasty crescent puff pastry complemented by the Ice cream and berries.
Mocha – Expresso $8.0
Can’t bear to destroy the latte art – it’s simply lovely.
Fly Me To The Moon $9.0 & New Horizons $10.0
Sweet & Sour mix, sprite, cranberry & orange juice.
Blue lagoon, orange juice, strawberry syrup, sprite
