Freak shakes are synonymous with over-the-top milkshakes; however, we are less tolerable towards sugary sweet products and always have our reservations when it comes to this imported Aussie sweet stuff. Our perception of the Freak shakes is none other than the monstrosities of sugary content found in many of the western desserts. Fortunately, Patissez knows their market well and they have made their milkshakes less sweet for the Asian palate by using frozen milk instead of ice cream.

Top recommendation from the social media and we decided to go along with the flow. The Nutella ganache, vanilla mousse and topped with salty pretzels, the content piled up in a mason jar with almost overflowing mousse. The chocolatey brown and white mousse was aesthetically seductive, we instantly fell in love with the first sip. The well-balanced and neutralized sweetness blended perfectly well with the mousse and the hazelnut flavour from the Nutella.

Dunked the crispy pretzels into the Nutella and everything was just heavenly. The dessert was so good that we have a strong craving to go for the second order

Besides the heavenly Pretzella, the main course at Patissez Singapore should not be neglected.

Pulled Pork Burger $19

Pulled Pork Burger

Chunk of pulled pork was sandwiched in between the soft and fluffy brioche buns. The tenderly shredded meat was the result of 12 hours of slow-cooking, doused with house made bbq sauce that was incredibly alluring and helped further boost the overall taste.

In the end, it was a flavourful pulled pork burger that done in a masterful manner and salivating in every bite.

Corn and Zucchini Fritters $15

Corn and Zucchini Fritters

No meat for you? Then go for the veggies fritters that is served with poached eggs, romesco sauce, smashed avocado, kale pesto and confit cherry tomatoes. The veggies pancake was essentially savoury with its lightly crisp outside, light and fluffy with lots of zucchini and fresh corn, a comfort food fritters went well with the dressing.

Miso Linguine $19

Miso Linguine

The dish is a fusion of Italian and Japanese flavours with a velvety umami miso seasoning that clings on to each strain of pasta. A seemingly simple dish with creamy Miso pasta, furikake and buttered prawns but all acted in a perfect synchronized manner. Love it.

Grilled Chicken Breast $20

It is a rare find chicken breast so tender, eating the chicken alone may taste slightly on the bland side but went fairly well with the accompanying spring onions, creme fraiche, roasted mushrooms, grilled purple cabbage. A very healthy dish and perfect for the health conscious people.

Nutty glutten free tart topped with a zesty lemon curd, Italian meringue torched to perfection and decorated with a home-made honeycomb. Nice dessert to complement a good meal.

Our verdict 

When you visit Patissez Singapore, you gotta try the myriad of freak shakes, the Pretzella is an all-time inspiration for anyone to visit the cafe. As mentioned, you don’t have to worry too much the overly sweet stuff commonly adopted in the western desserts; Patissez has the soluble carbohydrates adjusted to suit the locals.

Besides the Freak shakes, the main courses are equally impressive, from pulled pork burger to Miso Linguine all are professionally crafted by the chefs and Patissez Singapore is a place we truly enjoyed.
